Lt. Colonel Robert Eldon Miller, retired,
82, of Wilmington, died 12:40 p.m. Tuesday (June 22, 2004) at his
residence. He was born March 14, 1922, in Hillsboro, son of the late Ora
R. and Armata Knisley Miller. He was a retired farmer and also owned and
operated Miller's Market in Wilmington for 25 years. He also was employed for
several years by Central Implement. He served in the U.S. Air Force during
World War II as a pilot and received two overseas service bars, World War II
victory ribbon, merit unit plaque, air medal, EAME theater ribbon with five
Bronze Stars and the American theater ribbon. He served in the Reserves and the
National Guard until 1972. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles,
B.P.O. Elks and American Legion Post 49. He graduated from Wilmington High
School.
